Leading Up To When We Found Out We Were Going To Be Parents

First off I want to Thank You All so much for all of the congrats!

After several months of Medicine and Bloodwoork the time was here for our IVF cycle to be finished.

Egg retrieval was the 9th of June. This was an easy procedure and was put under so I didn't feel a thing. I woke up a hour later and was sent home to relax. No pain that whole day so I went back to work on Friday.

Egg transfer was the 12 of June. On the way to the hospital that day, I was to have a full bladder so I was supposed to drink 32 ounces of water in 1 hour or stop when I started to feel uncomfortable. This didn't take long at all and on the way there I started to hurt so bad because I had to pee so bad that I thought I was going to explode when I got there. The nurse was so kind to give me a cup and told me I can go pee and fill the cup but I had to stop when the cup was full. I said are you sure, I don't think I will be able to stop. She said yeah you will manage. So I went and released some of my bladder and wow felt so much better. As soon as I got back to my room Doug and I was to change into our gowns and get prepped for the transfer and also the nurse brought me a cup of water back to me to sip on while we wait. I really didn't drink any of it because I still felt so full and also because I was so nervous. About 10 mins later Dr. Odem came into our room and told us that all the eggs were still there but they were not good eggs. I started to panic. He said that they had alot of fragmentation to them and that its harder to conceive when they are like that, but he has seen women come in that has transfered eggs with 40% fragmentation and they conceived with them so it is possible. He showed me the percentages of my eggs and some of mine had 75%, 60% etc. But I had 2 that were 20% and 30%, these were the 2 he was transferring back in. We headed to the procedure room and the nurse checked to make sure my bladder was full with an ultrasound machine, guess what it was. Then a new nurse came in a showed me my petri dish with my name on it and my 2 embryos in it that was being transferred. The catheter was inserted and it wasn't working out because apparently I have a curved uterus or something, so Dr. Odem switched Caths and was good to go. This whole time Doug and I are watching him on a ultrasound monitor. We could see the cath moving around and then both eggs that were inserted in, it was so cool to see our 2 babies being put back in. Now its just a waiting game for 2 weeks and hope they stick. I am send back to my room to lay still for 30 mins and then sent home with my instructions to be on bed rest for the next 2 days. Fine with me I needed sleep and that meant I was off work for a few days.

About a week and a half later I still had no symptoms but my Friend Jenn who also did IVF told me that she didn't feel any symptoms either so I didnt worry and decided to take a home pregnancy test. It didn't take long at all and sure enough 2 red lines. One of them was lighter then the other but there was definitely 2 lines, and we have never seen that before. I knew that the HCG shot could give us a false positive but I just had this feeling. I did tell Doug about it but told him remember it could be a false test.

Then 2 days before and the day of my bloodwork I tested again. This time 2 red lines again but both times the red lines were so dark you could see both of them so clear. At this time I was for sure thinking I was pregnant. I went that morning to get my bloodwork done and then headed back to work to nervously wait till after lunch for my results. The nurse called around 1 and said did you take a home test? I said yes she said then you know the results? I said well I know what my tests said but I want to hear from you. She said Congrats your are definitely pregnant and that it could also be twins because my levels she be at around 100 and mine was 590. I think at this point I did and inside scream of joy and told her Thank You! She then tells me that I needed to come back July 5th after a long Holiday weekend for my first ultrasound to find out how many we are having. Cant Wait! An Update to come with how many we concieved.

By the way no cravings or anything yet but I do have the worst Heartburn I have ever had. Its so bad I wake up with it. Doug's Aunt told me last night that means my baby is going to be born with alot of hair. Oh and the shots I have to take in m butt area, they are really starting to hurt.
